The Symbols and Their Histories

The Rainbow Flag – the original from 1978

Artist Gilbert Baker created the rainbow flag in San Francisco in 1978, and today it is the world's most recognized symbol of LGBTQ+ pride. The colors stand for life, healing, sunlight, nature, harmony, and spirit. Our Combined Rainbow Flag pin is the natural first symbol – the one everyone understands, everywhere.

The Transgender Flag – light blue, pink, and white

Monica Helms designed the trans flag in 1999: light blue for boys, pink for girls, and white for those who are non-binary, in transition, or without a label. The flag is deliberately symmetrical – no matter which way it's turned, it's always right. Wear it with the Transgender pin as a visible sign of support.

The Leather Flag – Black and Blue with Love

Tony DeBlase presented the leather flag in 1989 at International Mr. Leather in Chicago. The black and blue stripes, the white center stripe, and the red heart are the international emblem of the leather and fetish community. Our Leather Flag pin is our own design and is available in a full series with cufflinks and tie bars.

The BEAR Flag – the bear paw from 1995

The International Bear Brotherhood Flag was created in 1995 by Craig Byrnes. The shades of the stripes reflect the fur colors of bears worldwide – a tribute to inclusion – and the black paw is the community's most famous symbol. See the BEAR Flag pin in our own series.

The BDSM Emblem – the triskele everyone can use

The BDSM emblem was designed in 1995, inspired by classical literature, and released under copyleft – free for everyone in the community to wear. The three-sided spiral represents the three pillars: safe, sane, and consensual. Our BDSM Flag pin is one of our most worn symbols.

The Poly Flag – love that never ends

The colors of the poly flag were introduced in 1995: blue for openness, red for passion, and black for solidarity. The infinity heart in the middle – a heart intertwined with the infinity symbol – stands for love with room for more than one. Explore the Poly Flag pin.

The Puppy Flag – playfulness and loyalty

The human pup play community celebrates play, loyalty, and the freedom of shedding everyday roles. The paw symbol is its most recognized sign, worn by both pups and handlers. Our Puppy Pride pin is a joyful way to show belonging.

The Fetish Flag – pride in the fetish community

The fetish community is one of the broadest and most creative parts of the kink world, and its flag is worn by those who want to openly show their pride. The Fetishism Pride pin is our tribute to that community.

How to wear your pride pins

The classic place is the lapel of a blazer or jacket – visible to those who look, discreet to everyone else. But pins work just as well on a denim jacket, backpack, cap, or collected on a lanyard. In leather culture, the side matters: left for givers, right for receivers. Push the pin straight through the fabric and always secure it with the clasp on the back – especially in the hustle and bustle of a parade.

Many wear multiple pins simultaneously: identities are rarely just one flag. A rainbow next to a bear paw, or poly next to leather, tells your whole story without a word.

Mix and Match

Several of our flag motifs are available in entire series: complement the pins with matching cufflinks and tie bars in the same design – or wear the flag full-scale from our range of pride flags. For a parade, a single pin goes a long way; for a party, a complete set makes a difference.

Pride pins are also among our most popular gifts: for 99 SEK, you get a symbol that truly means something, wrapped in discreet packaging.

Frequently Asked Questions about Pride Pins

Q: What do the different flags on your pride pins mean?

A: Each flag represents its own community within the LGBTQ+ world: the rainbow for the entire movement, the trans flag for transgender people, the leather flag for the leather and fetish community, the BEAR flag for the bear community, the BDSM emblem for the kink community, the poly flag for polyamorous individuals, the puppy flag for pup play, and the fetish flag for the fetish community. Learn more about the history of each symbol in the guide above.

Q: What material are the pins made of?

A: All our pride pins are made of enameled steel with a silver-colored finish and measure 22 x 14 mm. The enamel provides clear, deep colors that do not fade, and the clasp on the back keeps the pin securely in place.

Q: Can I wear multiple pins at once?

A: Absolutely – it's even common. Many combine several flags on the same jacket or lanyard to show their full identity. Identities are rarely just one flag, and the pins are designed to be collected.

Q: Are pride pins suitable as a gift?

A: Yes, they are among our most popular gifts. For 99 SEK, you give a meaningful symbol to a partner, friend, or someone in the community you want to honor – personal without breaking the bank.

Q: How discreet is delivery from Chambers of Love?

A: All deliveries are made in neutral, opaque packaging without revealing sender markings. We use DHL Express to a service point or parcel locker, and you can always pick up in our store on Kungsholmen in Stockholm.
